About
Zara Sea Games
Zara Sea Games is an independent designer of tabletop role-playing game settings, adventures, and everything necessary for to make the life of the busy game master easier. We are a family business (literally – there’s just the two of us) located in Prince George, British Columbia, and we pride ourselves on games that are fun, inclusive, and strike a balance between gripping and whimsical.
Our worlds are fantastic. There’s no sexism, racism, or homophobia in any of them. Violence only happens to the bad ‘uns. Sure, this isn’t very “realistic”, but neither are steam-powered zeppelins or ghouls in the sewers of Vienna. If we wanted gritty realism, we just need to venture into real life.
If you’re seeking a system-neutral campaign setting, try the Lost Kingdom of Gardzyka. The Lost Kingdom world is set two decades after the cataclysmic destruction of the heart of the kingdom, as the remnants of the land battle against bestial creatures. Adventures and new monsters for 5e rules abound!
If eldritch horror featuring the Cthuluhu Mythos are more your style. you’ll want to check out the forthcoming Azathoth Goes to Austria. Set in the post-World War One capital of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Vienna Paranormal Society investigates mysterious goings-on along the banks of the Danube. The challenge, of course, is trying to distinguish ordinary criminal activity from horrors that the mortal mind was never meant to comprehend. The goal is not to defeat the monsters – it’s to stay alive, and hopefully, to stay sane as well.
Five hundred years ago, something happened, and the earth slipped on its axis. Floods and famine abounded, but from the wreckage emerged the world of the Twisted Spurwheel, based upon the calculating ability of Analytical Engines powered by Ekstremalium. Today, great empires such as the Haudenosaune Confederation, the Sibir Khanate, the Bornu Empire, and the Polish-Lithuanian-Ashkenazim Commonwealth scheme againist one and other and the corporations which have become more powerful than many nations.
Here at Zara Sea Games, we feel strongly that artists have a right to earn a living. All artwork used in published materials has been commissioned and designed by living, breathing humans (or goblins) – not an AI. Help support artists by checking out links to their sites here under Artwork. If you are a game developer, feel free to use our sample contract at the same page for your artists.
